After I read “From Beep To Boom” by extraordinary Simon N. Goodwin I decided to create my own spatializer mostly for educational purposes. So I used NI Reaktor and its high-level programming. It’s cranky in terms of math accuracy but it does what it was designed for. And any artifacts with ITD “On” are going to be fixed in the next versions.

So we have XY controller with a listener in the centre, little white cross cursor on xy plane(that’s our emitter) and few controls. First of all “Emitter Automation”, it basically automates emitter’s movement from left to right and back(right left). Next is “Current Attenuation” graph. For now, only one attenuation curve is available. And the most fun one, “ITD” stands for Interaural time difference with “AMT”(Amount) knob. ITD is describing difference in arrival time of a sound between two ears. More realistic implementation would be much more complex and it involves rotation and ear dependent frequency modulation and all that. Here I did only time difference with Reaktor’s delay functions. I’m planning to implement IID(Interaural intensity difference) as well as phase delay according to ITD’s Duplex Theory.
